How to Share/Transfer Folders Between Windows 8 and Windows 7 PCs - If you've got recently put in Windows eight on one in all your laptop in workplace or reception and currently you would like to transfer files from Windows seven machine to Windows eight one or the other way around then the most effective methodology is to share a folder between these 2 laptop.
Sharing folders between 2 machine with same versions of Windows put in is kind of a simple job however it becomes somehow troublesome once you have completely different versions of Windows put in on your laptop like in gift case we wish to share folders between Windows seven and Windows eight PCs.

Steps to do on Windows 7 PC
  1. First of all we will share the desired folder in Windows 7. To do this click on the folder you want to share and select Properties.
  2. Click on Sharing tab and select Advanced Sharing.
  3. Check box for Share this folder and then click Permissions.
  4. Check box for Full Control to give full access and click OK. Check the screenshot below:
  5. Click OK to close advanced sharing dialog box following by clicking Close to close Properties dialog box.
  6. Note your Windows 7 PC computer name by clicking on Computer icon in start menu and selecting Properties. There you will see your computer name under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.


That’s all you needed to do on your Windows 7 PC. Now switch to your Windows 8 PC and do the steps below:

Steps to do on Windows 8 PC
  1.  Access Windows explorer by pressing Windows key + E key combination.
  2. 2) In right side you will see Network below your hard drives. Right click on it and select Map network drive.
  3.  Select drive letter for the shared drive from drop-down and give the name of your Windows 7 PC. Click Finish.
  4. When the connection is established, you will be asked to enter your Windows 7 PC username and password. Enter the details followed by clicking OK.
  5. Now you will be able to see the shared folder from Windows 7 PC in Windows explorer under Computer and you can now easily transfer files from your Windows 7 PC to your Windows 8 PC or vice versa.
